Does this technology mean passwords will be a thing of the past?

Biometric technology is now being used in many areas, including to protect our online identity.  It is predicted that webcams/microphones on computers and smartphone cameras will become a more secure way of uniquely identifying us.  This technology will not only be used by banks, financial institutions and online retailers, but in other spheres such access to our medical data.
