Do you have a Contactless Card?

If you have a Contactless Card you need to be aware of new research carried out by the consumer group ‘Which’!

This research has revealed that carrying a contactless card, which allow you to tap and pay without entering a Pin, is leaving you as a user vulnerable to fraud.

They found a fraudster standing close to someone with a contactless enabled card can effortlessly ‘lift’ your cards sensitive account details using an easily available card reader.

However, a simple trick which can prevent this happening is to wrap your wallet lining or individual card in tin foil - this can deflect the reader and shield the card, even when a crook is in close range.

A more refined metal card holder, available from retailers like Amazon, will also do the trick.

The research also suggests that taking the card you wish to make a payment with out of your purse or wallet avoids mishaps like paying twice or with the wrong one.
