Ransomware increase

There has been a reported significant rise in Ransomware scams.

Ransomware is malicious software that encrypts (scrambles) files on a victim's computer and then demands payment to restore (unencrypt) them into a usable format. The prices asked by the criminals of unlocking data can be anything from hundreds to thousands of pounds.

So please do be very careful when clicking links in e-mails or opening e-mail attachments.  Also be sceptical about any pop up message when web surfing that could present a danger to your computer if clicked.

As always, if at all unsure... don't do it - contact Highway for advice!
