Microsoft's trick to action Windows 10 upgrade

We at Highway have always advocated the free Windows 10 upgrade, however...

Microsoft is being lambasted by many for changing the pop-up box encouraging Windows users to upgrade to Windows 10.

Clicking the red cross on the right hand corner of the pop-up box now activates the upgrade instead of closing the box, which is a bit naughty as usually clicking the cross closes a window or pop-up notification.

The Windows 10 update is now labelled 'recommended' and many people have their computers configured to accept recommended updates for security reasons.

This means 'closing' the box does not stop the update, which is often scheduled for a specific date and time.

So beware...

There are a couple more scheduled Windows 10 Upgrade days on the Calendar in June.  We will assist in your upgrade and, most importantly, remove some of the privacy settings that are set by default that allow Microsoft to 'spy' on their Windows 10 users.

Microsoft has now effected a U-turn over the pop-up encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 10.

Based on 'customer feedback' Microsoft said it would add another notification that allowed 'an additional opportunity for cancelling the upgrade'.

People power?!?
