Just fininshed doing some work for a drinks company. They had two lists and needed to compare them very quickly. Previously they had been doing it manually. Using lookups it was possible to do the entire process automatically. Hence saving time and effort

Now that Excel has improved the Table functionality lookups become much more useful.
