Around 45 years after the first Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) hit the market, the last ones are rolling off the production lines.  The only company (in Japan) still making them has announced that they will cease at the end of July.

I can't say I miss rewinding and fast forwarding to the bit of the recording that I wanted to see; nor the bulky cassette format; and that recordings deteriorate over time.

Still, as always, we usually mourn the passing of an era, even though, thinking of this device, my eyes don't go that misty!
